I believe that the key to making good money as a blogger is to have multiple streams of income. Even a small amount of money coming from various sources over time can add up.
Before you choose any form of income, you need to always have your audience in mind. You don't want to send your readers away, just to make a few cents here and there.
I don't know if you will agree with me but when I land on a website that is filled with ads or promos to “buy this or that,” I quickly navigate away from the page.
One of the most common ways to earn an income from your blog is by placing ads on the site. There are two different types of ads.
Pay-per-click: You receive a small income every time someone clicks on the ad.
Cost-per-impression: You receive a fixed income based on how many people view the ad.
Probably the most popular of this type of ads is Google AdSense. The great part with them is that you simply add a banner on your site and they choose ads that relevant to your audience.
In general, this income stream requires a large audience because you need a lot of people to click on the ad to generate good earnings.
You must be careful if you choose to use this form of income. You don't want to send people away because your website is filled with ads. As a blogger, I believe that your priority should always be your content. If your website is filled with ads, your viewers will be constantly distracted by those ads instead of reading your content.
2. Affiliate programs
Affiliate programs are a great way to make an income online. Before we go any further, let’s define affiliate marketing in simple terms. Affiliate marketing means you will be rewarded for helping businesses promote their products or services on your website. You can receive a commission for driving the buyer to the seller’s site after they make a purchase.
The great part about affiliate marketing is that you don't have to create a product or invest a ton of money. You can even make money while you sleep! With affiliate marketing, you can earn money using:
Pay Per Sale: You will receive a percentage of the final sale after a purchase is made using your unique tracking link. This is the most common form of earning in affiliate marketing.
Pay Per Lead: You receive a commission when a referred visitor fills out a form or to provide contact information, such as an email address, to a third party site.
One of the most common mistakes people make is putting random links on their site. This will not help your readers or show the benefits of the program you are affiliated with.
The key to success with affiliate marketing is to only recommend services or products you use or have tried: This is very important, people trust you and your opinion. Therefore, don't recommend something just to make money. People’s trust is more important than a couple of dollars.

3. Sell your own digital product
Selling your own digital product is probably the most rewarding type of income you can make online. If done correctly, you will create your digital product just once and sell it for years to come. There are different types of digital products such as an e-book, an e-course, a webinar or a membership site.
Creating an e-book is probably the easiest way to start creating a digital product. If you know how to write (I'm sure you do, if you are a blogger!) you can create an e-book. If you are good at creating videos, you could create an e-course or webinar.
Simply pick something you are good at and that your audience wants to learn about and teach it!
4. Run a service-based business
When I first started my online business, I offered web design services and it was a great source of income. If you have the time and skills, you too can offer your services online. This could be anything from administrative assistance, web design, coaching, social media managing or freelancing writing .
The only downside of running an online service-based business is that your income is limited to the time you have.
5. Sell a physical product
Are you crafty? You could sell your own product on your site or through Etsy. You could also sell manufactured products and promote those products on your site or through your email subscriber list.
Use your blog to drive traffic to your shop. Create content that will generate traffic for your shop. This can be a video tutorial, a blog post or even a Facebook lives.
Use Pinterest to drive traffic to your shop – pin your products or create a graphic image that will link to your blog post. This will give the products a better chance of being found.
6. Sponsored posts
A sponsored post is when a blogger receives an income from publishing an article provided by the sponsor or written by the blogger.
You can charge based on your PageRank and traffic. The higher your blog ranks on Google and the more you have traffic coming to your blog, the more you can charge. Most bloggers will charge between 25$ to 700$/post.
Before you accept any sponsored post, make sure the post will help your audience and that you feel comfortable promoting this type of content. You are the only boss of your business, don't accept anything that doesn't feel right to you or your audience.
